USER EXPERIENCE product creation

As the creative lead for the Tango design working on 3 of their high profile features, news being one of their main areas for improvement, I worked with the news team consisting of both a product manager and interaction designer. Our goal was to improve the user experience of the Tango News feature incorporating the new Tango methodology and brand direction we developed from our previous series of workshops.

Since Tango has users on both platforms, another goal was to create one unifying user experience language and strategy. The card stack concept that was implemented for 2 other features (Discover People & Rooms) tested well and became the starting point for our exploration.  We began our workshops by documenting the User Stories based on research and feature improvement requests (business goals). We developed an over-arching user story, then created tangent user stories dependent on content type and their connection to other features.

Once the user stories were nailed, interaction flows were flushed out, then visuals were explored with many, many iterations each step along the way. After approvals from everyone involved were given, specs & assets were generated via Zeplin for the engineers.  Tango releases an update monthly so these feature improvements were spread out over 6 months to ensure user assimilation as each new improvement was introduced. DESIGN STUDIO SESSIONS
The news team met and brainstormed a series of directions. We documented a 1st time user experience, 2nd time and 50th time user experience. We grouped like patterns of content, then categorized the types of algorithms required for success.

As A User... I want to know how many people have visited my profile ( favorited me, liked my comments, shared my content ) because it makes me feel good

As A User... I want to know who has viewed my profile ( favorited me, liked my comments, shared my content ) so that:

  • I can look at their profile and get more details about them
  • I can connect with them

  • I can read/see what people are saying about what I have to say
  • I can keep on top of the conversation

As A User... I want to know about what’s new/trending/popular:

  • So that I can see what’s new
  • So that I can see what others are interested in
  • So that I can connect with people that I find interesting

As A User... I want to find out about people with the same interests so that I can connect with them.
